The RMS Britannia was an ocean liner of the British Cunard Steamship Lines. Launched in 1840, the ship and its sisters, Acadia, Caledonia, and Columbia, were the first four Cunard ocean liners. The Britannia was a small ship, about 230 feet long, and was relatively fast for the time at 8.5 knots. She had paddle wheels and her engines had an output of about 430 horsepower. She was sold by Cunard some time after her launch and was converted into a sailing ship. She was sunk as a target ship in 1880.
