The Pushcart Prize honours the best short stories, poetry and essays published in the small presses over the previous year. A collection of the best work has been published every year since 1976.
Writers who were first noticed there include: Raymond Carver, Tim O'Brien, Charles Baxter, Andre Dubus, Mona Simpson, Seán Mac Falls, and Paul Muldoon.
