Pseudorealism, pseudo-realism, or pseudo realism is a visual arts style, in which an altered view of reality is presented. In film, the term refers to heavy use of special effects to create a fantasy with the illusion of reality. In art, it is a style in which reality is depicted through abstract symbols and off-beat color schemes. Among the proponents of this new style of art is Indian artist Devajyoti Ray.

Pseudorealism is often considered a counterpart of magic realism in literature. However US artists like Paul Cadmus, George Tooker and the Canadian artist Alex Colville had also initiated a style which was called Magic realism, which continues to remain popular.
