Pran was born Pran Sikand (born 12 February 1920 in Delhi), he is a veteran Bollywood actor.
He is a well-known character actor in films like Don, Amar Akbar Anthony and Majboor. He started his film life as a villain in a Punjabi film called Yamla Jat in 1940. After partition he came to Bombay and his role in the Dev Anand Kamini Kaushal starred Ziddi, directed by Shaheed Lateef, started his Bombay film career.
In the 60's with Manoj Kumar's Upkaar he turned to positive character roles. Ironically with this movie Kamini Kaushal ( the heroine in Pran's first movie) moved to character roles.
His biography "...and Pran: A biography" was named so because in most of the movies he acted, he was mentioned last in the credits of the starcast with the words "and Pran."
