The Poynter Institute is a school and resource for journalism, located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Founded in 1975 by Nelson Poynter, chairman of the St. Petersburg Times and Congressional Quarterly, Poynter was bequeathed its founder's controlling stock in the Times Publishing Co. three years later. Jim Romenesko's blog covering journalism and the media is popular among industry professionals.
