The term positioning has more than one meaning:

• "Positioning" is also a term for the careful placement of objects
  • by the use of precise navigation: for example, in the term "Global Positioning System" (which often refers rather to finding than getting into the position).
  • in computer graphics, placement of virtual objects:
    • window positioning
    • placing HTML objects through CSS markup via the position attribute
