The term places of power was introduced by a Mexican Indian, sorcerer Don Juan Matus, described in the books of Carlos Castaneda.

Places of power are areas on the surface of the planet possessing energy fields which have certain significance for man.

They are quite various; in particular, they can be characterized as positive or negative, according to their influence on people.

Places of power are widely used in spiritual practice (though practitioners do not necessarily use this term). They can give energy, heal, facilitate entering certain meditative states (altered states of consciousness).
