Physenaceae is the botanical name for a family of flowering plants. This family has been only recently recognized by taxonomists.

The APG II system, of 2003 (unchanged from the APG system, of 1998), does recognize this family and assigns it to the order Caryophyllales in the clade core eudicots. The family comprises only a single genus (Physena) of probably two species, of Madagascar. According to the AP-Website it forms a clade together with the family Asteropeiaceae (also of Madagascar).
