Pawnee Rock, one of the most famous landmarks on the Santa Fe Trail, is located in Pawnee Rock State Park, just north of Pawnee Rock, Kansas. Originally over 100 feet tall, it was stripped of some 20 feet in height for construction material. Pawnee Rock was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
