Paul de Casteljau (1910 - 1999), an engineer at Citroën, developed an algorithm for computation of a Bézier curve. Author of the book "Mathématiques et CAO. Vol. 2 : Formes à pôles" from Hermes. His algorithm is widely used although it might have gone through some modifications. The efficiency has been questioned as opposed to today's algorithm.
