Patrice Chéreau (born November 2nd, 1944 in Lézigné, France) is a French opera and theatre director, film maker, actor, and producer.
One of his biggest successes was his 1976 staging of Richard Wagner's tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Bayreuth Festival, in a centennial production conducted by Pierre Boulez.
