Otherware is a collective term referring to software that is not distributed as freeware, shareware or commercial software. It can be said that otherware is a type of freeware, because often the user is not required to pay for it.

Types of otherware

  • e-mailware, which signify that the author want to receive an e-mail from new users.
  • postcardware, which signify that the author want to receive a postcard from new users.
  • donateware, which signify that the user must donate to a charitable cause in order to "register" the software.
