Orocobix was the Taíno regional chief of the central mountain region of Puerto Rico, called Jatibonicu. The Jatibonicu region covered the present day municipalities of Aibonito, Orocovis, Barranquitas, Morovis and Corozal.

The Dujo or seat of power of his kingdom and caney (longhouse) was located in the town of Aibonito. Cacique Orocobix was the first cousin of Cacique Agueybana. His wife was named Cacica Yayo, she was also the mother of Cacica Catalina. Cacica Yayo was later given in servitude in the year 1514 and worked in the Royal Mines of the King of Spain, in Utuado. Cacique Orocobix, also had a younger brother, named Cacique Oromico, who was the chief of the tribal region of Horomico, that today bears the same name of the town of Hormigueros. There exist a present day descendant of Cacique Orocobix his name is Cacique Pedro Guanikeyu Torres, whom was born in Puerto Rico and is the present day Chief of the Jatibonicu Taino people of Boriken (Puerto Rico). see Cacique Guanikeyu //www.taino-tribe.org/guanikeyu.jpg. see tribal flag //www.taino-tribe.org.
