OpenOffice.org Draw is a vector graphics editor comparable to CorelDRAW in features and is part of the OpenOffice.org office suite. It features versatile "connectors" between shapes, which are available in a range of line styles and facilitate building drawings such as flowchart.

OpenOffice.org users can also install the Open Clip Art Library, which adds a huge gallery of flags, logos, icons and banners for general presentation and drawing projects. In particular, Linux distributions Debian and Ubuntu have provided ready-to-use openclipart packge for easy download and install from their online software repositories.

SVG support status

With the acceptance of SVG on the rise, the ability of OpenOffice.org Draw to import and export SVG format has become increasingly important.

Currently OpenOffice.org supports exporting to SVG format officially, though with some limitations to be resolved*.

SVG import filter*, however, is still under intensive development and requires JRE to use.

With the evolvement and maturity of SVG filters, users will be able to use Draw to edit the huge collection of SVG samples from Open Clip Art Library, instead of using only bitmap graphics or resorting to other SVG editors such as Inkscape.
