Ocean Springs High School is a public high school in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The school serves the grades 9-12. Its auditorium's roof collapsed in Hurricane Katrina, on August 29th, 2005.

Campus

The school's campus is split into two major sections, which are both split into sub-sections.

The first section is the north campus. The north campus is split into the main building and the 9th Grade Academy.

The main building houses the offices (Administrative, Main, Counseling, and Attendance) along with a set of English and Social Studies classrooms, the Band and Choir Halls, and the Cafeteria.

The 9th Grade Academy houses mainly freshmen level classes, including 9th grade Algebra I, Biology, English I, and remedial classes.

The south campus is split into the 15 Classroom Building (Math/Science Hall), the Round Building classrooms, the Media Center building, the Gym, and the Auditorium.

In the 15 classroom building, the classes are primarily Sciences (Such as Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, and AP Physics), and Mathematics (upper-level Algebra I, Extended Algebra I, Algebra II, Advanced Algebra, Geometry, Accelerated Geometry, Probability and Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC). The round building mainly has foreign languages (French and Spanish), health classes, and JROTC classes.

A new section of classrooms has recently been completed.

Other information

  • The North Campus used to be the junior high school, which became a middle school and was moved to its current area, and the high school consisted only of the current South Complex. The cafeteria was shared between the two schools, and the South Campus had its own office by the auditorium.
  • The South Campus was built in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. The North Campus was built in the late 1970s. Ever since then, the school has undergone many remodeling changes in order to accommodate different types of classes, such as the three Technology Discovery classrooms on the North Campus that must accommodate 13 rather large modules.
