Information

The title histories presented here show all five "versions" of the NWA North American Tag-Team Championship. The original version of the title, the Central States Version, was recognized by the NWA until 1973. After 1973, three more versions of the title were recognized by promoters as the NWA North American Tag Team title holders. (The version recognized as Los Angeles was essentially New Japan Pro Wrestling's main tag team title before the creation of the IWGP World Tag Team Championship.) At one point, there were three teams who would be recognized as NWA North American Tag Team Champions. During the last version, Florida's version, the belt was later dubbed the NWA Global Tag Team Championship (not to be confused with the NWA World Tag Team Championship) and even later the Global Tag Team Title was replaced with the United States Tag Championships. (During the NWA's history, titles would occasional be merged, vacated, or have champions being recognized in two or more places.)

The titles were abandoned in 1982 when they were replaced with the Global Tag Team Titles and in another instance the U.S. Tag Team titles shortly therafter. When the NWA organization relaunched in 1993, the North American Tag Team titles would re-emerge in 1998 when a team by the name of MCW Blacksheep would win their promotions MCW North American Tag Team Championships, which was later dubbed the NWA North American Tag Team Championships which would continue to exist until today.
