Myers Park is a park in central Auckland, New Zealand.
On the slope of the Karangahape ridge facing towards the Waitemata Harbour is a natural gully now the site of Myers Park. This is, or rather was, the start of the Waihorotiu Stream also known as the Queen Street River. Formerly an open stream running down the centre of the road, it became little more than an open sewer before being bricked over by the city engineer, Mr Ligar. Water percolating through the soil under Myers Park still runs under Queen Street to the sea, discharging under the Ferry Building.
In 1914 a former Mayor of Auckland, Sir Arthur Mielzinier Myers (1868–1926), donated £10,000 to transform 2.4 ha of wasteland into Myers Park and to construct the Myers Free Kindergarten, a fine example of Arts & Crafts architecture (Chilwell & Trevithick Architects).
