In the Roman Catholic Church, a mixed marriage is a marriage between a Catholic and a non-Catholic.
Similarly, among Jews, mixed marriage refers to a marriage between a Jew and a non-Jew.
The term later came to be used to mean interracial marriage, although the traditional sense of the term is still standard in the Catholic Church.
