Minister of the Crown is the formal constitutional term used to describe a minister in the United Kingdom and in other Commonwealth Realms. The term indicates that the minister serves in theory "at His/Her Majesty's Pleasure" (in reality, at the pleasure of His/Her Majesty's Prime Minister) and exercises crown prerogatives for his or her department or ministry.
Though widely used in the past, the term has declined somewhat in usage, as has the term Her Majesty's Government.
