Miniclip, Miniclip.com, or Miniclip Ltd. is a website which hosts browser-based games, with a staff primarily based in the UK. It was first launched in 2000. Most games are authored in Macromedia Flash or Shockwave. A few are written in Java (such as RuneScape, an affiliate of Miniclip). A majority of the games are free, and some are available for download. It is the world's largest online games website, with 27 million unique users per month according to Comscore Media Metrix, December 2005. It is also the largest privately held entertainment website on the Internet; its popularity originally arose from a game called Dancing Bush. The website had a new look applied to it in July 2006. Instead of a blue background a more lighter background has been introduced.
