As of the census² of 2000, there were 867 people, 303 households, and 252 families residing in the town. The population density was 5.7/km² (14.7/mi²). There were 320 housing units at an average density of 2.1/km² (5.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.39% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.46% Asian, and 0.92% from two or more races. 0.23% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 303 households out of which 43.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.6% were married couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.8% were non-families. 13.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.14.
