Mike Seidel is an American Meteorological Society recognized on-air meteorologist for The Weather Channel. He is seen Saturday through Tuesday afternoons, and therefore frequently reports in the field on football tailgating during Weekend View. He, however, is most notably recognized reporting from the scene of severe storms (generally hurricanes), often pelted by rain and battered by winds wearing his trademark blue Weather Channel windbreaker. Mike joined The Weather Channel in March 1992.

Early Career

Mike was raised in Salisbury, MD and interest in weather started at a young age. He worked for 5 local radio stations during high school and college. After graduating from Wicomico Senior High School, he earned a BS from Salisbury State College, now Salisbury University in Mathematics. Immediately afterwards, he started his TV career with WMDT, an American Broadcasting Company affiliate, in 1980. Throughout his tenure at Penn Sate, where he eared a Master's Degree in Meteorology, he appeared in "Weather World" on Pennsylvania Public Television. His first full-time TV job was at WYFF-TV in Greenville, SC, where he was employed from 1983-1989. He then returned to his hometown of Salisbury in 1989 to work as Chief Meteorologist for top-rated WBOC-TV. He remained there through 1992. While at The Weather Channel he's done reports on various network news programs and has filled in for weatherman Tony Perkins on ABC's 'Good Morning America'.
