Bullard, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, was employed with Bell Canada and worked part-time as a stand-up comic before becoming the host of Open Mike.
In 2003, Bullard's contract with CTV expired and he signed a multi-year deal with Global, the network on which he would host The Mike Bullard Show. However, it was cancelled on March 12, 2004 after getting lower then expected ratings. This was partly a result of the fact after Bullard left CTV, his time slot was filled with the popular, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Bullard made a cameo appearance at the Gemini Awards, where he took part in a skit. He played a "corpse" who was about to be removed, but stood up at the last moment and proclaimed "I'm not dead yet!".
He is the brother of Pat Bullard.
Currently he is the host of the TV show HouseCapades *. A real estate show that show the lighter side of selling your home.
