Microcrystalline Cellulose is an excipient used in the formulation of tablets and capsules. It can be used as a binding agent, due to its excellent compression properties. It also has uses as a disintegrant, in order to increase the biological availability of a medicine, and as a lubricant to aid in the tabletting procedure. It is also physiologically inert, odorless and tasteless, making it suitable as a diluent in order to fill out a tablet and make a more convenient and accurate dosage form.
