Messenger (b. 1780) was an English thoroughbred stallion who was a descendant of the Darley Arabian line of thoroughbreds. "Messenger" was purchased by wealthy American businessman Henry Astor, a brother to John Jacob Astor, who brought the horse to the United States in 1788.

Through his great-grandson Hambletonian 10, "Messenger" is the originating sire of modern-day American standardbred horses, the principal horse breed of harness racing.
