Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born on May 16, 1977 in New Plymouth, North Island, New Zealand) is a New Zealand actress best known for her role as murderer Pauline Parker in Peter Jackson's Oscar-nominated movie Heavenly Creatures (1994). She won the 1994 New Zealand Film and Television Award for Best Actress for her performance. Although Lynskey hasn't achieved the same recognition as Kate Winslet, her co-star in Heavenly Creatures, she has maintained a steady acting career and can currently be seen on the American sitcom Two and a Half Men alongside Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, in which she plays Sheen's character's neighbor and stalker, Rose.

She is engaged to actor Jimmi Simpson. The two met while filming the 2002 miniseries Rose Red.
