Maxwell Montes is a mountain massif on the planet Venus, part of which contains the highest point on the planet's surface. Located on Ishtar Terra, the more northern of the planet's two major highlands, it is 11 km tall. It is the tallest mountain/volcano on Venus' surface. It is named for James Clerk Maxwell, and is, along with Alpha Regio and Beta Regio, one of three exceptions to the rule that Venusian surface features are named for women or goddesses.
