Mat Collishaw (born 1966) is one of the Young British Artists and exhibited in the seminal Freeze show.
He was born in Nottingham and attended Goldsmiths College (1986-9). He was represented for a time by the Lisson Gallery and had a relationship with Tracey Emin. His work uses photography and video. His best known work is Bullet Hole which is a closeup photo of a bullet hole in a head, mounted on 15 light boxes. Since then is work has changed to deal with elements of fantasy and illusion - notably fairies.
His work has been purchased by Charles Saatchi. Bullet Hole was included in the prominent 1997 Sensation exhibition at the Royal Academy in London, which later travelled to Berlin and New York.
