Marzahn is part of the borough Marzahn-Hellersdorf in Berlin. Until 2001, it was a borough in its own right.

Marzahn became part of Berlin in 1920, as part of Lichtenberg. It became a separate borough in 1979. The 2001 administrative reform led to it and Hellersdorf fusing into a single district.
