The Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA) is the division of the Maryland Department of Transportation that operates the several toll roads, bridges, and tunnels in the State of Maryland. The Authority also finances and constructs capital projects to improve Maryland's transportation system, including terminal facilities at the Port of Baltimore and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The Authority provides law enforcement at the port and airport facilities as well as the toll facilities that it manages including their surrounding infrastructure.

The MdTA operates the following facilities:

• Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge
• William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge (Chesapeake Bay Bridge)
• Francis Scott Key Bridge
• Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge
• Millard E. Tydings Memorial Bridge on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (including the entire roadway, which had its tolls removed in 1993)
• Fort McHenry Tunnel
• Baltimore Harbor Tunnel

As none of them allows pedestrians or bicycles while this prohibition may create difficulties for some non-motorists, the Authority offers shuttle services across the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge for a fee as a courtesy. (See these articles for details.)Maryland Bicycle Map
