Mary Sue Coleman (born October 2, 1943) has served as the president of the University of Michigan since 2002. She was born in Kentucky, and was formerly president of the University of Iowa. Coleman is a member of the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. in chemistry from Grinnell College, where she is a member of the Board of Trustees, and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina.
