The Marquette Underwater Preserve was established in 1990 to promote conservation of the submerged historical resources in Lake Superior near Marquette, Michigan. The Preserve offers outstanding scuba diving along the lake's shoreline in two areas of Marquette County, named the Marquette Unit and the Hurons Islands Unit. The Marquette Unit extends along 24 miles of shoreline out to the 200 foot contour. The Michigan Underwater Preserve Council coordinates the preserves in the state.
