"Marigold" is a song by the American rock band, Nirvana. It is a b-side on the band's 1993 single for the song, "Heart-Shaped Box."
"Marigold" is the only Nirvana song written and sung entirely by drummer Dave Grohl.
It was written in 1990, and an acoustic version appears on Grohl's 1992 cassette-only album, Pocketwatch. It is listed as "Color Pictures of a Marigold."
The "Heart-Shaped Box" version was recorded in February 1993 by Steve Albini in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. It features Grohl on vocals, and drums, and Krist Novoselic on bass, while Kurt Cobain still plays guitar.
The Albini version was re-released in 2004 on the posthumous Nirvana box set, With the Lights Out.
It was performed for the first time by Grohl as part of the Foo Fighters acoustic tour in Berkeley, CA on July 14, 2006. It marks the first time that Grohl has performed a Nirvana song with his current band.
