Mamaki is a Hawaiian Herbal Tea grown in remote areas throughout the Hawaiian islands. The ancient Hawaiians drank tea with the belief that tea served as a means to cleanse impurities. These impurities could be of the physical and spiritual nature. They also believed tea helped to cure them of other physical ailments and maladies. It is made with Pipturus albidus, a relative of the nettles, also called mamaki.
