The Maine Senate is the upper house of the Maine Legislature.

The Senate consists of 35 senators representing an equal amount of districts across the state. Unlike the House, the Senate does not set aside nonvoting members from Native tribes.

Leadership

Unlike a fair share of U.S. states, the Senate's leadership does not stem from the Lieutenant Governor, as Maine has constitutionally abolished the office. The leadership instead falls in the hands of the Senate President.

The Senate President is Betheda Edmonds.
