The Main Force Patrol was the fictional Australian Federal Police special task force featured in the Mad Max movies. Its purpose was to support the regular police in combatting organized crime, especially motorized criminal gangs. It was also to generally support the regular police and perform highway patrol functions on the Transcontinental Highways.
