The London Metropolitan Archives are the main archives of the Corporation of London.

It is based at 40 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell, London, close to the Family Records Centre and the Society of Genealogists. It is the largest local authority record office in the country, with records covering 900 years. Most of its material comes from the old London County Council and from the old county of Middlesex.

It holds the following type of records -

  • Court records (from 1549)
  • Diocesan records (from 1467)
  • Families and individuals (from 1160)
  • Health authorities and hospitals (from 1220)

  • Maps, plans, prints and photographs
