Lite-On is a popular Taiwanese manufacturer of DVD and CD writers. Their products are usually very inexpensive and used by OEM PC manufacturers. Many Sony drives are actually re-branded Lite-On drives (with minor differences in firmware). The name "Lite-On" is pronounced "Light On".
