- Sona, Montreal (RIP)- Infamous "rave" style warehouse venue. Notorious for huge lineups in freezing weather, massive over-crowding and a mashed-up crowd. Loved by many all the same.

- The Alrosa Villa, Columbus, Ohio, USA 1970s–current, heavy metal music, site of December 8, 2004 shooting rampage that left Dimebag Darrell (of Damageplan and Pantera) and four others (including the shooter) dead.
- Beverly Hills Supper Club, Southgate, Kentucky, USA, 1971–1977, elegant dining with light vocal and popular music, burned to the ground on May 28, 1977 killing 165 of more than 2,000 people in attendance.
- Black Banana,Philadelphia,USA 1970-1995, premier members only club- responsible for bringing most trends and styles to fruition in Philadlephia. Josh Wink started his career there along with the legendary Vagabond parties
- Bondage A Go-Go, San Francisco, 1993-current, claims to be the cities longest running fetish dance party. BaGG features Go-Go dancers and live BDSM play.
- CBGB, New York, 1973-present, Regarded at the birthplace and center of American punk rock, will close indefinitely in October 2006 due to lost of lease.
- Club Foot, Austin, Texas, 1980s. Large live-music venue featuring punk rock, blues, reggae and many other kinds of music.
- Club Universe, San Francisco, trend setting gay nightclub which existed from 1994 to 2002.
- Club Space, Miami, one of the first clubs in the United States to have an unrestricted liquor license, enabling them to serve liquor far beyond standard closing times.
- Danceteria, New York City, 1980s. Frequented by Madonna. Had appearances by avant-garde performance artists such as John Sex.
- G.G. Knickerbockers, New York, late 1970s--had go-go dancers on trapezes with a net under them. Frequented mostly by transsexuals.

- Red, Washington, D.C. 1996-2005 The foundation of the DC/MD/VA underground house scene for nearly a decade. Red was known for its high quality music, booming soundsystem, thick vibes and great people.
- Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco, West Hollywood, early 1970s. Where the glam rock stars and their groupies and admirers came to party when they were in Los Angeles.
- Roxy NYC, New York, former roller skating rink. 1980s–current. Featured in the film Beat Street.

- Xenon, New York City, late 1970s. First night club to have go-go boxes for the patrons to dance on. (A competitor to Studio 54--since they were #2, they tried harder.)
- Jackie 60, New York, 1990 - 2000, Pioneered New York's Meat Market, served gay, fetish-dressed, straight, transvestite and poets for a decade.

- Ageha, Tokyo, Japan is a large club with several dance floors, a terrace with a small pool, an outdoor dance tent, on the water front in Shin Kiba, eastern Tokyo. The club is used for live concerts, as well as a nightclub. Madonna, in December, 2005 had her Japan media showcase at Ageha. Ageha recently hosted Deep Dish for an 8-hour set.

- The Musictheque, Kuala Lumpur. A nightclub offering theme entertainment for all ages, at Istana Hotel, Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.
- Qba, Kuala Lumpur. In the Eastin Hotel, plays mostly Latin musics.
- Conlay Club, Kuala Lumpur. next to Prince Hotel & Residences. Parking's ample and free, the dance floor's huge, music's not bad, beer's @Happy Hour prices all nite and it's also Ladies Nite. Plus, their local band is quite good too.
