The following is a list of minor organizations in the fictional Star Wars universe. For corporations and manufacturers, please see List of Star Wars companies.

181st Imperial Tie Interceptor Squadron

The 181st Imperial Tie Interceptor Squadron, is made up of three squadrons of TIE interceptor pilots led by Baron Soontir Fel until the time he joined the New Republic, the brother-in-law of New Republic X-wing pilot Wedge Antilles. The 181st, as it is often referred to, is made up of some of the best pilots in the Imperial Navy. They are easily identified by the red bloodstripes painted on the solar panels of their TIE interceptors and sewn onto the sleeves of their uniforms. The 181st Imperial Tie Interceptor Squadron was considered the best of the best for their tactics and cunning ferocity in air combat. The 181st saw combat in several places across the galaxy and may be compared to the Rogue Squadron of the Rebel Alliance.

27th Denarian Fleet

The 27th Denarian Fleet was a segment of the Galactic Republic starfleet bolstered by the massive military expansion of the Clone Wars. When the remnants of the Republic's military transitioned into the Imperial military machine, the 27th Denarian was one of the earliest to undergo personnel changes and technological upgrades. As new Imperial-class Star Destroyers were commissioned, Emperor Palpatine authorized the sale of 520 Victory-class Star Destroyers to alleviate resources and raise funds for the burgeoning Imperial Starfleet. Stripped of sensitive technology and weaponry, the ships were put up for auction to the highest bidder. The Victory-class starships were bought by the Corporate Sector Authority, modified and put to use by their Security Division as lead warships.

Agricultural Corps

The Agricultural Corps, or AgriCorps, was a Jedi organization to which younglings were sent if they were not selected to be a Padawan. There, the young Jedi learners would grow crops to support newly-settled or environmentally-damaged worlds. This was believed to instill the patience and discipline which all Jedi needed to learn. However, many younglings feared being relegated to the AgriCorps if they did not have enough talent to be chosen as a Padawan. One such youngling was Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was sent to serve with the AgriCorps on Bandomeer.

Azure Imperium

The Azure Imperium, based on the planet of Axum, was an ancient political organization that existed in the millennia prior to the formation of the Old Republic. It was eventually absorbed into Coruscant's sphere of influence.

Bando Gora

The Bando Gora was a cult/faction of powerful dark side witches (somewhat like the Nightsisters) which operated sometime prior to the Battle of Naboo. The cult ruled through fear on uncivilized Outer Rim worlds in the galaxy, often killing those who stood in their way or refused to convert. The Bando Gora once attacked the Outland Transit station, forcing Dexter Jettster to sell his stocks on the station.

Most of their ranks were culled from various slaves and other "worthless" individuals. The Bando Gora themselves came in several forms, though few resembled their old selves. The lower-ranked members functioned as "grunts", and they simply charged at their prey, brutally beating them to death. Some were trained to use a sort of blowgun, which fired poisonous darts. They were distinguished by their black hoods and the red glow in their eyes. Higher-ranked members were somewhat more intelligent, and were capable of speech. Most functioned as Komari Vosa's personal attendants. They wielded large vibro-axes in battle, and often wore hideous skull-masks. Their eyes glowed a bluish color.

Some time during their reign of terror, the cult attacked the people of Baltizaar; the Galactic Republic requested Jedi intervention, but the Jedi were overwhelmed and under prepared for the Bando Gora's true power. Many Jedi died in battle and only a handful survived. Among the survivors of the Jedi taskforce was Komari Vosa, who was captured by the cult and brutally tortured. Vosa finally succumbed to the Dark Side, killing her two Jedi co-prisoners, breaking free, and slaughtering her captors. She then took control herself.

The cult soon proved to be a threat to the Republic and the Sith lords, Count Dooku and Darth Sidious. Dooku hired Jango Fett, (a notorious bounty hunter) to track down Vosa for a sum of 5 million Republic credits, an offer that few could refuse. After chasing the dark Jedi down to the burial moon of Bogden, penetrating her heavily defended fortress and engaging in a furious battle, Jango finally bested Komari. It is presumed she died of her wounds. Count Dooku then surprised Jango by immediately appearing, proving that Dooku had always known Komari's location.

Dooku had had Komari eliminated in such a circuitous way as a method of finding the perfect specimen to be the template for his planned clone army. Thus whichever bounty hunter proved to be an extraordinary enough warrior to succeed in killing Komari would be the prototype for the clone army. The only other competitor for Jango Fett was the bounty hunter Montross, whom he defeated and left to be killed by the Bando Gora during his quest to find Vosa. Also, when Jango made a prison break to retrieve Bendix Fust, he stole the Slave I a KSE Firespray patrol ship that is one of the last of its kind. In addition, he ran into his soon-to-be partner, Zam Wesell.

Black Sun

Black Sun is a fictional crime syndicate introduced in Shadows of the Empire, which featured the syndicate's de facto head, Prince Xizor, as its main villain. Since then, Black Sun has appeared in numerous Star Wars works.

Black Sun has existed, in some form or another, in the Star Wars galaxy for centuries. Black Sun is headquartered on Coruscant and its influence stretches the breadth of the galaxy. Before The Phantom Menace, Black Sun was headed by Alexi Garyn, who was killed by Darth Maul on his master's (Darth Sidious) orders. In the time of the original trilogy, Black Sun was headed by Prince Xizor, a reptilian Falleen, who was so wealthy that it was rumored only Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were more powerful than him.

Rivalry between Vader and Xizor was especially strong due to the fact that, after an accident at a biological weapons laboratory on Xizor's homeworld, Vader ordered all the Falleens who had been contaminated to be "sterilized," (i.e. they were killed.) When Xizor learned that Luke Skywalker was Vader's son, he decided to kill Skywalker so as to foil Vader's plan to turn Luke to the dark side. However, when Vader learned of the scheme, he made sure Xizor paid with his life.

Black Sun never achieved its former glory after Xizor's death. Several attempts to bring the syndicate's have been orchestrated, including one by Xizor's niece Savan.

Black Sun makes an appearance in the video game Empire at War, where they are commonly referred to as The Black Sun pirates. Some planets are under their control in numerous campaigns, and they use asteroid bases with numerous weapons, as well as frigates and fighters. The Black Sun Pirates are also featured in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies which often fire upon player ships and players have the chance to loot the Black Sun Ace Helmet, players also have a chance to craft Black Sun Bounty Hunter armour if they find the right schematics. In Galaxies they are often found in the North West quadrant of Yavin IV, in the Middle/Northern plains of Endor and near the Imperial Prison on Dathomir.

Black Sun may have been the source of the name for the Blue Sun organization in the show Firefly.

Blizzard Force

Blizzard Force is a fictional military squadron featured in The Empire Strikes Back, during the Battle of Hoth.

Blizzard Force was commanded by General Veers, which attacked Echo Base on Hoth. It consisted of nine AT-AT Walkers (Blizzard 1-9) and four AT-ST Walkers (Blizzard Scout 1-4). The entire Blizzard Force was deployed by three Y-85 Titan Droidships. Under the command of General Veers , Blizzard 1 succeeded in capturing Echo Base despite the loss of Blizzards 6 and 8. A third walker was destroyed in a kamikaze attack by rebel pilots in the Empire Strikes Back novelization, but this wasn't confirmed onscreen.

The snowspeeder squadron committed several tactical blunders by attacking the first five Blizzard walkers at close range, as the walkers were armed with heavy laser turrets and some of them employed flak blasters for anti-aircraft tactics. The battle was fierce, adding a lot of casualties to the rebel infantry while the mechanized assault advanced very deeply through the rebel defenses. Soon after Blizzard Force secured the frozen plains, the snowtrooper task force began deploying troops via airmobile tactics. Members of the 501st Legion were deployed directly from the fleet. They were involved in the destruction of the inner facilities of Echo Base. The rebels were easily overwhelmed by the Blizzard Force Team and the 501st Legion, some of them surrendered and where taken prisoners while others escaped or proudly fought to the death. The Battle of Hoth was a stunning victory for the Empire despite the minimum loss of infantry and vehicles. The Rebel Alliance took massive infantry losses during their escape and also while engaging the Blizzard Force Walkers.

The Rebel Alliance High Command was utterly defeated at the end of the Battle of Hoth in a single well-coordinated attack, but it was able to evacuate most of its staff. Blizzard Force occupied Hoth, for a time, while some Star Destroyers were deployed from the fleet to hunt down the Millennium Falcon and their crewmembers.

B'omarr monks

The B'omarr monks are a religious sect which are located in Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine.

Jabba's Palace was originally the monastery which housed the B'omarr order, which in turn was built on the ruins of even older structures. A string of raiders and criminals gradually forced the monks into lower and lower levels of the building, and when Jabba came to inhabit the monastery the monks were confined to the lowest levels and corridors. However, following Jabba's death, the monks rose up and retook the palace. It is assumed to remain under their control, though few have journeyed to the palace since the Hutt's demise.

The B'omarr monks are a very secretive sect, whose ultimate goal is to achieve enlightenment and to probe the mysteries of the universe. They also desire to find the "Ultimate Truth", which they are constantly in search of. They participate in almost constant meditation until deemed "enlightened" by their peers. Once this stage is reached, the monks' brains are removed from their bodies and placed in jars, thereby freeing them of the bother of maintaining a body, and giving them greater freedom to ponder the imponderables. Occasionally a brain jar is attached to a spiderlike droid, allowing it to roam about the palace. The walkers are controlled through signals from the brain itself. Receptors allow the disembodied monks to hear, and they can speak through speakers. The disembodiment process can extend the monks' lifetimes by centuries. The monks are very careful not to betray any of the secrets of their order, and it is rumored that they have mysterious psychic abilities. Members of the order are generally human.

The B'omarr monks made their first appearance very briefly in the third Star Wars movie, "Return of the Jedi." Among the many aliens and monstrosities lurking in the palace could be seen a spider walker with a brain attached to its underbelly. The monks play a prominent role in "Star Wars: Tales From Jabba's Palace," a collection of Star Wars stories edited by Kevin J. Anderson. All of the tales are accounts of individuals present in the palace during the time in which Han Solo was freed and Jabba killed. The book chronicles the B'omarr monks' takeover of the palace shortly after Jabba died, and the monks play minor roles in the stories of many of the characters. They also remove the brains of a number of the palace's minions, including Bib Fortuna, during their push for control of the palace. Yet another book, "The Brain Spiders" by John Whitman, concerns the B'omarr. This book is centered entirely around the protagonists' efforts to unravel a plot concerning a corrupt monk who performs the brain transfers on unwilling guests.

Bounty Hunter's Guild

The Bounty Hunters Guild is an organisation of bounty hunters. The Guild does not really have a director, rather they come together for the hunt. The old Guild honoured the hunt and savoured it, but eventually it became little more than a collection of murderers that fought against each other rather than helping each other.

The old Bounty Hunter's Guild had a leader, the Trandoshan Cradossk, and a council, comprised of the elder members of the guild.

Hunting bounties is a complicated and dangerous trade for several reasons:

  • One needs a ship, weapons, armor and other such things.
  • One needs connections to find out about bounties.
  • One also needs skills and resources to hunt down and capture the "merchandise". There are many dangers and difficulties here
  • One must compete with the other bounty hunters who will not hesistate to trick, injure or even kill their competition.
  • One must receive full payment upon delivery.

The Bounty Hunter's Guild was created to facilitate all this.

Between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, Prince Xizor had the idea to turn the members of the Bounty Hunter's Guild against themselves. starting the Bounty Hunter Wars.

Bravo Squadron

Flying the Nubian N-1 starfighter, the pilots of Bravo Squadron protect the ships and skies of Naboo. The skilled pilot Ric Olié leads the squadron in these duties. Their participation in the Battle of Naboo helped to secure defeat for the Trade Federation and the liberation of their homeworld. The squadron appeared in Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Braxant Sector Fleet

The Braxant Sector Fleet is a core part of the Imperial Remnant navy and is responsible for defending Braxant Sector. Inside this important sector lies the Remnant's capital planet of Bastion, which also serves as the home port of the fleet. The Braxant Sector Fleet includes such prestigious ships as the Star Destroyers Relentless, Ironhand, Tyrannic and Obliterator. Also, at one point, an unnamed Super Star Destroyer (presumably Executor-class) was seen in orbit over Bastion, although it is unknown whether or not this mighty vessel was part of the Braxant Sector Fleet.

Corellian Merchants' Guild

The Corellian Merchants' Guild, (CMG) is a fictional organization within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. CMG is a galaxy-spanning private trade organization that provides monetary aid, information, contacts and starship maintenance and repair facilities for its members. Only native Corellians and owner and crew of Corellian-made starships are eligible for membership. During the time of the Galactic Empire, it is viewed as a hotbed of sedition and anti-Imperial activities by the Empire but because the CMG is deeply entrenched in galactic commerce, the Empire could not easily pass a law to declare the organization illegal.

The CMG was given a write-up in Star Wars Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments From The Rim published by West End Games.

Corellian Security Force

The Corellian Security Force, commonly abbreviated CorSec, is a fictional organization within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. CorSec is the primary police/law enforcement organization in the Corellian Sector, and was one of the best equipped and best trained sector forces in the galaxy. CorSec trained the soon-to-be Jedi Knight Corran Horn in law enforcement tactics. Not much is known about the operations of CorSec. It is assumed to operate as a regular law enforcement agency. In 6.5 ABY, CorSec was dissolved by the Diktat and replaced with the new Public Safety Service (PSS). However, the PSS was considered more interested in snooping than policing. As it was put by Corran Horn, "graffiti was obliterated before it had a chance to dry".

The Exchange

The Exchange is a fictional galaxy-wide criminal organization featured in the videogame Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

Extragalactic Society

The Extragalactic Society, often abbreviated as ExGal, was a society formed to search for life outside the galaxy. The society sponsored several listening posts on the remote fringes of the galaxy. One of these outposts was ExGal-4, which discovered the first of the invading Yuuzhan Vong ships.

Genoharadan

The Genoharadan is a secret society mentioned in the game Knights of the Old Republic. It is a secret bounty hunter's guild founded by Xim the Despot and was interested in preserving the Old Republic through terror and assassinations. 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin, the Genoharadan was run by a council consisting of Hulas the Rodian, Vorn the Gamorrean, Rulan the Shapeshifter, and Ithorak Guldar the Selkath. While on Manaan, Hulas manipulated Darth Revan into assassinating the other three council members so he could become the sole leader of the guild. In an optional sidequest Darth Revan has the chance to kill Hulas in the Dune Sea of Tatooine.

Invids

The Invids (not to be confused with the Invid from the animated SF series Robotech) are a group of pirates led by Leonia Tavira. They take their name from their command ship, the Star Destroyer Invidious. They have ties with some Jedi, allowing them to sense direct threats to their craft and slip in, attack, and slip out before the New Republic can retaliate.

The Invids' pilots fly Tri-fighters, a variation of the Imperial Remnant's TIE fighter technology. These fighters have three wings instead of the usual solar panels. Tri-fighters are equipped with shields and an ion cannon as well as the usual TIE armament. It is uncertain as to whether these are a type of TIE Defender (which also have shields and ion cannon) or an entirely separate fighter.

Krath

The origins of the Dark Side society known as the Krath is covered in shrouds of darkness. It is believed that an enigmatic Sith, only known as The Wanderer, founded the order to protect his legacy of wisdom and power. Because of this most Krath are seen as Scholars and Librarians that guard the ancient lore and myths of the Dark side.

A secret society revived by the Sith Lord Freedon Nadd in his two initiates Aleema and Satal Keto some 4,000 years BBY, in the Empress Teta star system, it was named after the demon from the fairy tales of their youth. The Krath developed into a Dark Side magical sect that ruled the system. They also lent support to the Sith Lord Exar Kun, since the first Krath High Priest was Kun's apprentice, Ulic Qel-Droma. Leia Organa Solo learned about the Krath while using a knowledge-filled Jedi Holocron. The Krath developed a powerful War droid which was designed for the task of slaying Jedi - The droids were just as lethal as intended, annihilating every one of their targets when dropped en-masse into Jedi temples. The massacre at Mount Meru on the planet Deneba was the first place that these droids where used. Many Jedi were slain there, including the great master Arca Jeth.

The new Krath order was destroyed from within. Because of their vile and sneaky ways, the Krath turned on their allies and themselves in a hunger for power. Aleema tricked Ulic Qel-Droma into killing Satal Keto. Then, she betrayed Ulic and handed him over to the Republic Authorities. Eventually, Exar Kun, no doubt under the influence of Ulic, whom he had saved, destroyed Aleema and that was the second demise of the Krath.

Peace Brigade

The Peace Brigade was formed by sentients who thought that the New Republic was being apathetic and not reacting properly to the threat of the Yuuzhan Vong. They presumed that the Yuuzhan Vong would win the war, so they thought it best to become their allies against the Jedi. In helping them to corrupt planetary governments, capture high ranking officials and turn over Jedi to the Invaders they were only sealing their own doom, for the Vong had little use for the Brigade once the fight was over. But as membership in the Brigade continued to grow, it was clear they required a clear command structure to continue functioning.

After the Yuuzhan Vong drove the Hutts out of their former Space, Ylesia was given to the Brigade as the location of their central headquarters. The hierarchy was simplistic, a single headquarters group, with command branching down into the smaller, independent cells operating clandestinely throughout the galaxy. In function, the Brigade is a combination of the Bothan Spy Net and Black Sun, using guerilla tactics and political manipulation. The Brigade deployed its own Fleet, but its most effective weapon was still subtle manipulation of galactic politics, furthering the goals of their masters, the Yuuzhan Vong.

When Thrackan Sal-Solo reappeared, the Yuuzhan Vong forced him to lead the Brigade. When Ylesia was attacked by a taskforce of the New Republic and Bothan Fleets, once again the Brigade's command and control ability was crippled and Sal Solo captured. But like Black Sun and similar organizations, the Brigade would soon emerge revitalized and renewed, and with new leaders to continue the fight.

Leaders:

POWER Party

The POWER Party is a faction on the planet of Telos. The group is direct enemies of UniFy Corporation, a front for Offworld Corporation that is sucking the raw minerals out of Telos national parks.

Red Knights of Life

The Red Knights of Life are the fanatical followers of Nom Anor who enforce the Yuuzhan Vong's beliefs of using organic technology instead of mechanical technology.

Sorcerers of Tund

The Sorcerers of Tund were an obscure and feared group of mystics and Force-sensitives, whose most famous (and last) member was Rokur Gepta. Thousands of years before the Battle of Yavin, most likely after the Great Hyperspace War, the Sorcerors of Tund came into existence as the result of one of history's many Great Schisms of the Jedi Order. Incorporating Sith teachings into their religion, the Sorcerers studied the mystical arts in their monastic enclaves on their homeworld of Tund, seeking to understand the flow of events. The Sorcerers saw their abilities as a kind of magic, and presented themselves to the galaxy at large as powerful wizards, inspiring respect and fear. The Jedi Order knew of the Sorcerers, and periodically sent representatives to Tund, at first to try to convince the Sorcerers to join the Jedi Order and study the Force without what they felt was the restrictive trappings of mysticism and magic.

But as the Sorcerers' ways were frequently as effective as the Jedi's, the Jedi Order decided to let sleeping dogs lie, as long as the Sorcerers did not study the dark side. Representatives of the Jedi came only to observe and evaluate, seeking signs that the Sorcerers had become corrupted. Satisfied that they were not, the Jedi Order developed a comfortable detente with the Sorcerers of Tund. But c. 1000 BBY, the Battle of Ruusan struck the Jedi a grievous blow, and matters such as inspecting the Sorcerers were given a lower priority; as time passed, the Sorcerers were all but forgotten. This lack of monitoring meant that when the Empire was being born, the Sorcerers were wiped out, and the planet Tund reduced to a glowing ball of ash by Rokur Gepta—with no one the wiser; Tund faded even further from the memory of the galaxy, except for a very few individuals like the podracer Ben Quadrinos (seen in The Phantom Menace). Gepta continued to spread rumors and stories about the Sorcerers, to keep his mystique valid. Emperor Palpatine even became interested in the Sorcerers, having learned that their religious teachings were based on ancient Sith doctrines.

It should also be noted that the Toong settled on Tund shortly before the Battle of Naboo. Whether they escaped before Rokur Gepta destroyed Tund is unknown.

Smuggler's Alliance

The Smuggler's Alliance is a fictional group of smugglers appearing in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. The Smuggler's Alliance was started by Talon Karrde during the Thrawn Campaign. The alliance was a result of an attack by the local Imperial garrison. The Smuggler's Aliiance participated in the Battle of Bilbringi and helped the New Republic to win, and has also defeated many large capitol ships. This particular alliance continued to thrive until it was dissolved after the Yuuzhan Vong War.

The Syndicat

The Syndicat was a crime ring located on the planet of Phindar. It controlled all operations of the planet of Phindar, and for a short time had control over the planet of Gala through Prince Beju. The organization members all lived in luxury, while the rest of Phindar's citizens remained poor and hungry. The oppression shocked Obi-Wan Kenobi and even Qui-Gon Jinn, and they assisted in leading the planet of Phindar in the right direction against the Syndicat.

There are no known connections between the Syndicat and Offworld Corporation, UniFy Corporation, or Black Sun.

Tenloss Syndicate

Introduced by West End Games in their 1994 guide Criminal Organizations for the New Republic roleplaying game, the Tenloss Syndicate presented one of the largest criminal organizations in the galaxy, formed in the Bajic sector. Specializing in assassinations, kidnappings and slavetrading, the syndicate was run by a Leukish (board of directors) that helped oversee several umbrella groups operating under the Tenloss name, and dealt with the formalities with the New Republic and Galactic Empire.

It was the Tenloss Syndicate that financed the development and production of the Hornet Interceptor.

Their suspected strength was around 560,000 members operating throughout the galaxy, and they were among the most violent criminal groups encountered throughout the roleplaying guide.

Tierfon Yellow Aces

The Tierfon Yellow Aces squadron boasted such famous pilots as Wes Janson and Jek Porkins.

The squadron was formed well before the Battle of Yavin and had been disbanded by the time the first Death Star threatened the Rebel base.

Twin Suns Squadron

The Twin Suns Squadron was an elite fighter unit created during New Republic occupation of Borleias during the Yuuzhan Vong war. Created by Luke Skywalker, the squadron was named in reference to his homeworld, Tatooine. Command was given over to Jaina Solo, who led the squadron to successful campaigns at Borleias, Galantos, and Bakura. It primarily consisted of X-wing starfighters, and second-in-command Jagged Fel's Chiss pilots' clawcraft.

Wild Knights

The Wild Knights were a fighter squadron based on Barab I and made up of Force-sensitive pilots trained by Saba Sebatyne. Initially, they remained separate from the Jedi Order, but following the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the Wild Knights decided it was time to end their self-imposed exile and help the Jedi.

The Young

The Young was a group of children and adolescents from the planet of Melida/Daan that were against the civil war on their planet. However, this underground youth organization used violence against both sides in an attempt to achieve their goals, which included the end of all civil war activities in addition to the destruction of the "Halls of Evidence," which were, in short, war shrines. Many members of the Young were orphans; their parents had been killed in battle, and their grandparents were members of either the Melida army or Daan army. Many of the Young's bases were located in the sewers of Melida/Daan's capital.

The Young was led by Cerasi and Nield, although there were many minor "country" factions outside of the urban regions of Melida/Daan. Several years prior to the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn were sent to Melida/Daan to rescue the Jedi Knight Tahl. However, their discovery and involvement with the Young led to Obi-Wan staying behind to help the planet unite once again. When the Young members achieved their goals, they grew power-hungry, thus leading to internal conflict. It took the death of Cerasi, one of the leaders of the Young, to unite the faction once again. Peace was achieved on Melida/Daan. At this time, Obi-Wan realized that his future was with the Jedi and not with the Young.
