This is a list of presidents of Mexico.
For information on the position, see President of Mexico. For earlier historical rulers, see List of Aztec rulers and List of Viceroys of New Spain.
From 1822 to 1823, Mexico was an empire under Agustín de Iturbide.
Between the time of Emperor Agustín de Iturbide's abdication and Guadalupe Victoria's assumption of the office of president, there was a brief period when the executive power of the government was held by a committee. At one time or another the members of this committee included Pedro Celestino Negrete, José Mariano Michelena, Nicolás Bravo, Miguel Domínguez, Vicente Guerrero and Guadalupe Victoria.
From 1864 to 1867 most of Mexico was ruled by Maximilian of Habsburg, an emperor imposed by Napoleon III of France. During this time Benito Juárez continued a government in the north of the country, which some nations recognized as the legitimate government of Mexico.
