"Let's Go" is a musical composition written by Ric Ocasek of The Cars. It tells the story of a 17-year old driving school student and her budding interest in "the nightlife" It is told from the perspective of a teenage boy who wishes to ask her out for a date. She refuses any and all of his advances. The song was first recorded by the Cars in 1979. This first recording was released as the opening track on their second album Candy-O, which came out on that year. It was subsequently released as the album's lead-off single, peaking at #14 on the U.S. Pop Singles Chart . The song was also performed by The Chipmunks the following year, 1980. This recording was released as the opening track on the Chipmunks' comeback album Chipmunk Punk, which came out on that year.
