The Leprechaun Films are a series of horror films starring Warwick Davis, Jennifer Aniston, and Ken Olandt.

Plot

The leprechaun in the movie is a violent creature no higher than three feet tall. He uses his magic powers to harm anyone and anything that comes in between him and his precious gold. The leprechaun is sealed away early in the film by a man who stole some leprechauns gold from Ireland, but was unknowingly followed by his 'victim'. The man manages to trap the leprechaun in a crate in the basement via a four leaf clover, which is said to kill leprechauns, set ontop of the crate. He attempts to burn the leprechaun but ends up having a stroke instead and passing out.

Ten years later, a father (John Sanderford) and his daughter Tory (Jennifer Aniston) attempt to move into the house, its history unbeknownst to them. They stumble upon the box in the basement of the house of which the leprechaun had been sealed away in by the magic of a four leaf clover. After accidentally releasing the leprechuan by removing the clover from the lid, the leprechaun escapes to where the pot of gold was hidden.

There are also three other guys involved in the plot who were hired to paint the house for the Redings, but when the oldest (and mentally challenged), Ozzie discovers the Leprechuan's gold first, he accidentally swallows a piece of gold while biting it to see if it's real. The Leprechuan reaches the pot of gold soon after Ozzie leaves and begins to count each individual coin, instantly fuming with anger when he notices one is missing and proceeds to hunt down the culprit. Attacking anyone who is in or near the house the group soon realize the danger they are in and through much research learn the many tricks to divert the leprechaun's attention. Ozzie confesses that he had swallowed it which infuriates the leprechaun more as they have a confrontation outside of the house near a well. The Lep almost kills Ozzie with his shoe buckle.

The movie is filled with cheesy one-liners and gory executions, as well as cleverly spoken rhymes by the leprechaun himself; often followed by the exclamation of, "I want me gold!"

A sample of the leprechauns sardonic cruelty is a scene where he is bouncing up and down harshly upon a toy shop owner's chest and face while reciting, "This old lep, he played one, he played pogo on his lung!" In the original script, the Lep also said, "With a squish-squash, paddy-wash, I just crushed his head! This old man is surely dead!"

Near the end, the group find Dan O'Grady, the man who owned the house ten years ago and ask him what he knows about the leprechaun and how to stop him. Dan says the only way to break through a Leprechaun's invincibility is to have a four leaf clover touch it. After learning that and during their confrontation in the yard, Alex (the youngest of the painters) finds a clover and sticks it to a piece of gum on his slingshot, catapulting it into the leprechauns mouth just before he kills Ozzie.

After this the leprechaun's flesh starts to dissolve and he falls in a well, but just when they think it's over the rotting corpse of the leprechaun begins to crawl out from the well demanding his gold. Tory's love interest takes a shotgun and hits him in the face with the buttstock, as well as pouring kerosene into the well and dropping a lit match inside causing it to explode. The cops arrive only to find a bleeding Ozzie in the arms of Tori. A cop looks in the well to hear: "I'll not rest 'til I have me gold. Curse this well that me soul shall dwell, 'til I find me magic that breaks the spell." Being trapped in the well is obviously just a minor setback for the Leprechaun.

Criticism

Many find this movie the least impressive of the series, but enjoyable and funny nonetheless. Some were disappointed to find that none of the main characters were killed. Many felt that Alex or Tori should have died, but instead, the Leprechaun was kept in another part of town, killing off minor characters.
