The fifth book in a series of books on Spanish Chivalry started with Amadís de Gaula. It was written by Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo, who also wrote the book cuarto del Amadís. The first known edition of this work was published in Sevilla (also anglosized as "Seville") in July 1510, but there was undoubtedly one prior (perhaps published in Sevilla in 1496), since the sixth book of the series, Florisando, appeared in April 1510.
It is the origin of the name of the US state of California.
