La Plagne is a french ski area in the Alps (Savoie). Created in 1961, La Plagne contains ten separate villages. With 225 km of pistes it's one of the most important ski area in France. It is known for its accessibility to intermediates and beginners, and the connection via the Vanoise Express to Les Arcs. La Plagne has also featured as a stage finish in the Tour de France. At the 1992 Winter Olympics, La Plagne hosted the bobsled and luge competitions. The track is still used occassionally for FIBT and FIL World Cup competitions.
