- COSMIC: the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate. A program designed to provide advances in meteorology, ionospheric research, climatology, and space weather by using GPS satellites in conjunction with low Earth orbiting (LEO) satellites.
- Kosmos, a word used in ancient Greece and though it originally meant "ordered space" or "ordered arrangement" it was also used to refer to the entire universe, signifying that it was organized instead of chaotic and random
- Cosmos, the universe, often not in the sense in which modern physicists use the word, but rather, thought of by philosophers as encompassing all that exists, or by theologians as encompassing all of God's creation, but perhaps not including God
