Korah
People named Korah or Kórach (Hebrew: קֹרַח, Standard Qóraḥ Tiberian Qōraḥ; "Baldness; ice; hail; frost") in the Bible:
- A grandson of Esau, mentioned in Genesis. It does not appear other places than Genesis 36:16. Some scholars believe this is actually a scribal error and omit the name.
- Mentioned in the 1768 edition of the New England Primer. Here, as part of an alphabet, we read that "Proud Korah's troop was swallowed up".
Korach or Korah is also the 38th weekly parshah or portion in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading and the fifth in the book of Numbers. The parshah tells the story of Korah son of Izhar.
