Kennett is a city in Dunklin County, Missouri, USA. The population was 11,260 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Dunklin County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.2 km² (6.7 mi²). The entire 17.2 km² (6.7 mi²) is land; none of the city is covered by water.
There are 4,540 households, of which 31.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% are "non-families." Of all households, 28.9% are made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.93.
Of the city population, 26.9% are under the age of 18, 8.7% are from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there were 83.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $26,088, and the median income for a family was $34,167. Males had a median income of $29,958 versus $18,770 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,397. Living below the poverty line are 26.1% of the population and 20.5% of families. 37.5% of those under the age of 18 and 24.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
