Kashiwa (柏市 Kashiwa-shi) is a city located in Chiba, Japan.

As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 380,435 and the density of 3,311.01 persons per km². The total area is 114.90 km².

The city was founded on September 1, 1954, as a merger of townships in the area around the train station and current city center.

The centre of the city is dominated by the large multi-story station and the neighbouring Takashimaya department store. Kashiwa is home to a professional soccer team, Kashiwa Reysol.

Through the Kashiwa International Relations Association, the city of Kashiwa maintains relationships with cities in China, Guam, and the continental United States. Since 1973, Kashiwa has been the sister city of the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California.
