King Dongmyeongseong of Goguryeo (r. 37 B.C. – 19 B.C.) was the founding monarch of Goguryeo, the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. He migrated south from the kingdom of Buyeo and settled in Goguryeo, which probably existed as a tribal state from the 2nd century BCE. He conquered the states of Biryu (비류국, 沸流國) in 36 BCE, Haeng-in (행인국, 荇人國) in 33 BCE, and North Okjeo in 28 BCE.

Jumong, his birth name, is a Korean name transcribed in hanja as 朱蒙 (jumong, 주몽), 鄒牟(chumo, 추모), or 仲牟 (jungmo, 중모), with the family name of Hae (a royal surname of Buyeo), which was later changed to Go, after the kingdom he founded.

He is said to have descended from a branch of Buyeo, but records conflict on the exact relationship: a son of the Bukbuyeo (North Buyeo)'s king, or a son-in-law of Jolbon Buyeo's king, or merely married to a Buyeo woman. Goguryeo was founded in "Jolbon Buyeo", a possible branch of Buyeo or a city name, and had a close early relationship with Dongbuyeo (East Buyeo).

The founding legend describes his father as the Sun-god Hae Mosu (Hae in modern Korean means sun) and his mother as the daughter of Habaek (the River God). He is said to have been born from an egg.
